I’m writing this article from home, even though I had started preparing it earlier. On October 1st, I landed in Vienna, and everything went smoothly.

During the last week, I changed the oil and the rear tire one last time, then went for a ride and visited a few familiar places like Peggy’s Cove. On Friday, I also stopped in Windsor to see Linda and Kim, who are like my Canadian parents 😊.

Peggys Cove

On the way back from their place, I made a short trip to Cape Split, and on Sunday, I sold the motorcycle. On Monday, I deregistered it and canceled the insurance (they’ll still want 340 dollars for that), and on Tuesday morning, I flew from Halifax via Toronto to Vienna.

Long Lake

What I realized during the trip is that next time I’ll bring a tent to Canada because with just a tarp, there’s nowhere to hide from mosquitoes and other annoying insects. I did have a mosquito net, but it didn’t really work. Another thing is that in many places, I had trouble getting a signal with my phone, so next time I’d rather take Starlink or another satellite internet option. And the last thing is that heated grips on the motorcycle are worth having. I would have appreciated them for at least 10 days, but I managed thanks to the heat shield on the exhaust, which I used to warm up.

Third back tire

The only thing that broke on the bike was the cable leading to the speedometer, which I repaired easily. Then my motorcycle pants tore a bit in the crotch, and the boots, which have plastic reinforcement on the inside for strength and better grip, cracked. I guess they’re not really designed for air-cooled engines anymore.

Cape Split

As for the total cost of the trip, including the flight, I stayed under $12,000. About $1,000 was for fuel, around $1,800 for all the food, roughly $1,200 for accommodation along the way, and then about $5,500 for the motorcycle, from which I got about $1,500 back after selling it. The rest was for flights, ferries, and additional gear I needed to buy, like the Garmin inReach, fuel bags, and so on. Even the insurance alone costs almost $640 because I don’t have a Canadian driver’s license, so I’ll arrange that next time.
